The Ethics Of Editing

Every documentary is a selective representation of reality. The filmmaker chooses what to include, what to exclude, and in what order to present it. This is not dishonesty — it is storytelling. But it carries a responsibility that fiction does not.

Access Is Everything

The difference between a good documentary and a great one is access. When your subject forgets the camera exists, you have access. Getting there requires patience, trust, and the willingness to be present without agenda.
